Information in
search results
What:
Scrolling down the rows in a search result will automatically display
information on the current row. The company you are positioned on in the
list will be displayed instantly in the company, project or selection card.
Why: You can immediately see if the company is the one you are
searching for, without closing the dialog. You can be sure that you are
opening the correct company and this saves you performing multiple searches.
Improvements in freetext search
What: More information is displayed in freetext search results.
Keywords: columns, shortcuts and info boxes.
Why: Makes it easier to choose the correct company.
Default durations of appointments
What: The default durations of appointments are now user-defined.
Why: A small, but important, detail for precise and time-saving
input.
Recording competitors for sales
What: This feature is now also available for the "Open" and "Sold"
statuses.
Why: Because knowing who your competitors are early in the sales
process can be vital, and so, for future sales, can knowing who you beat.
Number of companies in a search
What: When searching, the total number of matching companies is shown.
Why: An easy way of seeing how many occurrences of a particular type
you have in your database.
Select <none> in drop-down lists
What: The option of selecting no item is now provided in all lists.
Why: Makes it easier to deselect items from lists.
Support for MSDE (Microsoft Data Engine)
What: You can now use MSDE as a Travel database.
Why: MSDE is a royalty-free database offering a powerful and uniform
database environment to users. In our tests, the MSDE database is the
best-performing Travel database. You don't have to purchase an SQL Anywhere
licence for every Travel user.
Contact name
What: You can have contact names in the columns in the activities list
displayed as "Peter Bright" or "Bright, Peter".
Why: CRM 5 adapts to your way of working and how you identify your
customers.
Middle name
What: Facility for recording contacts' middle names added.
Why: Useful, if not vital, in some countries. Sorting on last name is
still correctly preserved.
Cancel opening a selection
What: You can now cancel an instruction to open a large selection.
Why: If you open a large selection by mistake, you can cancel the
operation to avoid waiting for the process to finish. A request from our
users with an eye to saving time...
Enter and escape keys
What: The Enter and Escape keys now conform to Windows standards.
Why: Usability enhancement. In CRM 5 for Windows, these keys now
function as in most other Windows applications.
Updating the country field in the multi-edit facility
What: You can update the country field in the multi-edit facility.
Why: When importing data, you may have forgotten to add the country,
or you may need to change the default country. Another request from our
superusers...
Screen sizes and positions
What: CRM 5 remembers the sizes and positions of screens, dialogs and
columns which you move or resize.
Why: Usability enhancement. No more constant resizing of screens with
hidden data.
Support for wheel-mice
What: Support for wheel-mice is now consistent throughout the
application.
Why: When your finger instinctively reaches for the mouse wheel, CRM
5 responds as you expect it to.
Support for Word Pro
What: This version provides full support for Word Pro.
Why: A request from the increasing number of our users deploying
Lotus products.
The Maintenance Client
What: New functionality for user administration.
Why: Filtering the lists of users is easier and the administrator can
log users out of the system.
CRM 5 Reporter Studio
What: Reporter Studio has been redesigned.
Why: Enhanced flexibility in designing and redesigning reports.
Improved facility for using standard reports as the basis for new reports.
What: Data export from Reporter Studio has been improved. There is a
new "text file export" layout.
Why: Facilitates the export of any data from the CRM 5 database to
text files, for use in applications requiring structured data in a
particular format.
